Our Unique Approach
Goldenrod Gun Dogs is located in the farm country of central Ohio, approximately half way between Columbus and Cleveland.
We are hunters ourselves and breed Llewellin Setters exclusively. We do not breed Llewellin Setters in hopes of producing all-age trial dogs, just old fashioned, easy handling, foot hunting gundogs. We typically hunt in small to medium-sized fields, where a big running dog is not desirable.
Occasionally , we may have a young dog that shows potential as a trial dog, and will convey that to any prospective buyer. We breed not only for excellence in the field, but for conformance in beauty. Someone once said that "there ain't no such thing as an ugly bird dog." Well, we at Goldenrod Gun Dogs won't say there are "ugly birdogs," but we do not want to be the first to produce one. We strive to match up Sires and Dams that compliment each other, to intensify their natural abilities, while at the same time produce the most beautiful puppies we can.
Our dogs are natural backers, (usually at a very early age), they also exhibit at an early age very strong pointing instincts, and extreme intensity of points. They carry the "high" tails, and the "bird crazy" desire everyone looks for in a gundog. They hunt hard, but are extremely biddable, and are a joy to hunt with. Our Guarantee
Our gundog pups are guaranteed for a period of 2 years to be free from any congenital defect, and will be replaced upon the return of the dog and Veterinarian's signed statement explaining the defect.
